We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Public Health Informatics Analyst to join our growing team.


Position Summary

The Public Health Informatics Analyst serves as a key member of project teams supporting public health initiatives through the integration of data, technology, and business processes. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing public health data while supporting information system implementation, interoperability, quality improvement, and reporting activities.

The ideal candidate understands both public health practice and health information technology and enjoys transforming complex data into actionable insights.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Analyze public health datasets to identify trends, patterns, and performance measures.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of public health information systems.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using business intelligence tools.
  • Perform data validation, quality assurance, and data quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with system configuration, testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation support.
  • Collaborate with epidemiologists, program managers, IT staff, and stakeholders to define reporting and system requirements.
  • Develop data dictionaries, workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation.
  • Support interoperability initiatives involving electronic health records (EHR), Health Information Exchanges (HIE), and public health surveillance systems.
  • Prepare reports for federal, state, and local funding agencies.
  • Assist with project management activities, including meeting facilitation, status reporting, and deliverable tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, data privacy, and security regulations.
  • Provide end-user training and technical assistance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public health, healthcare analytics, health informatics, or a related field.
  • Experience working with public health information systems or healthcare databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH), Health Informatics, Data Science, or related discipline.
  • Certified in Public Health (CPH), CAHIMS, CPHIMS, PMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with HMIS, disease surveillance systems, immunization registries, case management systems, or electronic health records.
  • Experience supporting CDC, HRSA, SAMHSA, CMS, or other federally funded programs.
  • Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Knowledge of GIS mapping and spatial analysis is a plus.
